چکیده

Background Cachexia plays an important role in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), due to its chronic inflammatory process characterized by decreased muscular mass with preservation or increase of fat that occurs 1-13% the RA population. A BMI has a paradoxical relationship disease activity, activity and mortality (1). Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is autoimmune production nuclear autoantibodies can form immune complexes cause inflammation multiple organs. Cardiovascular events are nearly twice as high patients SLE general (2) Objectives To determine between SLE. Methods cross-sectional, observational study was conducted which group 58 were included their level determined using Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI) BMI. Distribution assessed Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Descriptive analysis measures central tendency. Correlation SLEDAI Pearson’s p value <0.05 considered statistically significant. Results The mean age 35.4 ± 12.11 years, rest demographic characteristics Table 1. test showed correlation (r= Demographic n=58 Female n (%) 54 (93.0) Age, SD 12.1 DM 2 (3.4) AH 12 (20.6) DLP 4 (6.8) Obesity 8.06 6.4 ANA positivity 47 (81.0) 25.0 4.9 DM; Diabetes Mellitus, AH; Arterial Hypertension, DLP; Dyslipidemia, SLEDAI; Index, ANA; Anti-Nuclear Antibodies, BMI; Body Mass Index. -0.304, p= 0.020) Image Multivariate found decrease independently associated (B= -0.411, 95% CI= -0.819- -0.003, p=0.049). Obesity and cardiovascular disease: the hippocrates paradox?

Clearly, obesity is a problem that is reaching epidemic proportions in the U.S., with nearly 70% of adults being classified as overweight or obese compared with fewer than 25% 40 years ago (2,3).
